The Lonely Unicorn

In cool velvet haze of early morn’

Stood the lonely unicorn.

Without a thread to keep her warm

Nay save for the love she morn.

The love within her tender heart did fall and was shattered apart.

She did not know from whence to start how to repair love’s fragile art.

Love in its simplisity once had seemed so clear to be.

The unicorn’s heart was wild and free, her spirit soared to ecstasy.

Now she stands on cold bare ground

Nay a love for to be found.

She sighs away a fallen clown

As velvet haze gathers ’round.

She will sigh and she will cry for many, many years.

Thank you all so very much for your input. I have corrected the mourn in line 4. but i still see no problem with the rhyme in 5 or 8. However Perhaps I should shorten the lined by cutting them so that the rhyme is more apparent.

Oh, I really like it! Even though I’m critiquing it a tiny biy, but its still really good.

There might be a few lines where you would want to watch the rhythms (lines 5 and 8). Also, I would think of splitting line 6 into two lines …start/…art.
